Explore the Springboard

In eight weeks from May through June 2020, more than 100 people and organizations diverted their daily work to help craft Thriving Together: A Springboard for Equitable Recovery and Resilience in Communities Across America.

This Springboard is designed to help us open a new chapter in America’s quest for well-being and justice—to propel a movement that will match the high stakes of this legacy moment. The guiding framework used in this Springboard does not tell us what to do or how to act. It simply organizes the things that all people and places need in order to thrive.

The Introduction includes the preface and Legacy Moment 2020. These sections frame the Springboard and its context; introduce thriving and the vital conditions for well-being and justice; and offer a set of strategic imperatives and guiding principles.

Changing Course presents 11 summaries focused on the vital conditions for well-being and justice, followed by separate summaries that examine place, faith, investment, and measurement. Deep Dives are paper-length explanations of ideas touched on in the Changing Course summaries.

Paths to Renewal builds on previous sections by presenting actionable ideas for national renewal and exploring three paths for renewing Civic Life, Economic Life, and Social, Emotional, and Spiritual Life. Each avenue braids the vital conditions into cohesive but still-evolving proposals for how our lives together could unfold.

Thriving Movement concludes the main narrative by looking at where we go from here, celebrating the serious movement underway in America and around the world for well-being and justice. The section ends with an invitation: join us in the hard, healthy work ahead.
